One of my favorite poems is Wallace Stevens' "Of Mere Being." It reportedly came to him while he was on his deathbed. His veil had "thinned" to the point of disappearance.
Knowing oneself is so key,it means you have recognized ALL you faults and foibles,done something about those that are negative in your life....I have a good friend that is Developmentally Disabled tho high functioning....he KNOW himself WAY better than most folks walking around out there....now,THATS Godly gift right there .....he has been a gift in my life!....
