In the summer of 2001, preceding 9/11, I had an incredibly idyllic time riding my motor scooter to beautiful spots in Rhodes and quickly drawing the beauty of the landscape and the marvelous light. As I've mentioned before, when I'm doing plein air painting or pastel drawing, I take about ten to fifteen minutes to set up the composition. Then I set my watch on a timer for half an hour and draw as fast as humanly possible.
