I love what he says. Always so on point. My version of this was more practical in regards to threat assessment. It was that it doesn't matter if you believe what they believe. It matters that you know that they believe it. And so, knowing that, you can intuit a lens they might be using in their decision making processes and anticipate how they will think and what they will do. It's interesting that those who study philosophy usually find Machiavelli to be relevant. Obviously Nyquist regards him more like a child having a tantrum. Psychologists find him pathological and named 1/3 of the Dark Triad after him: Psychopathy, Narcissism, and Machiavellianism, which is defined specifically by this indifference to morality that Nyquist is connecting with here. And in this case, its macro in application, what everyone doesn't understand we can use to dupe everyone by making it mean whatever the fuck we want to.
