Tartaria: The Pavilions Are Missing Something

Down the Rabbit Hole: Volume Nine, Part Eight

These pavilion structures were quite prevalent at the time. Seems to be that the interiors are missing a piece of equipment. They are built similarly to the spire/dome structures we were looking at before. What were there structures for and why are they missing the objects that were housed in their interiors?
