Oh, that was that show with Kyle McLachlan playing an fbi agent pretending to solve a mystery about some young woman who was murdered. And the owls, iirc, are not what they seem. Much musing in the latter episodes.
Yes. I remember a scene where they are having a discussion outdoors and the young lady who helps out at the office has prepared an exceedingly fresh cup of coffee for him which he swigs and then finding it too hot, expectorates. "Damn!" he says, and she is looking crestfallen, and he is very kind and says, "fine coffee! And hot!" lol A most enjoyable scene. I don't have her character's name in my head though.

It reminds me of a line in a tune, 'All I have done, all I have felt, all I have known, was leading to this. We all want to be loved for who we are but we first have to learn how to love ourselves.
