But if I shouldn't take health advice from a entity who profits from my getting sick, how do I get advice from an entity who profits from my getting well? It is the same picture, as the meme says. If I wasn't sick, I couldn't be cured. If I am spritually benighted, and I pay an enlighted entity for illumination, the light has profited from the darkness. The way up is the way down, right?

Should medicine be on a contingency fee basis, like personal injury lawyers? That would work only if disease had deep pockets. But disease, like ignorance, is poor; even judgment-proof.

You do proactive maintenance instead. You keep your environment and your eating clean. You exercise. You fast sometimes to give your organs a rest and clear out any debris. You detox often. You get a variety of nutrients. You create a baseline of good health so that when something really is wrong, you know exactly what it is and why and you're not having to throw spaghetti against the wall because the negative baseline habits mean that the issue could literally be anything.

Oh yeah? Well, as Bing Crosby is constantly asking in the movie "White Christmas," what's your angle? How do you benefit from any of the advice you just gave?

(Of course, I know it is good advice; I even take some of it, and more of it as time goes on. The 'sound baseline' perspective works in health even better than a sound bass line does in music.)

Thanks!

I love the @SethSpeaks1 meme, but just a minor observation; don't know 'bout y'all, but I'm busily creating a 21st century (not 20th century) fantasy. It is a WIIIIILD stage play, really - but in a different century!

I just don't think materialism is all bad, within balance and I definitely don't think it is related to survival. While I am fully confident I could go out and make a teepee and survive ( in a pine forest at least ), my desire for 'things' and my enjoyment of comforts has pushed me to be more self sufficient, not less, besidesthat the label materialistic is so broad that the above meme really ends up having no real meaning other than a point of condescension. Sorry if this is harsh but this is how this particular meme hits me.

Sorry, but it's the materialistic people who are going to know how to find the ingredients and make meals and cozy homes to live in. Spirituality is good but balance is better. If you plan to clothe and feed yourself in only spirituality you better be living in a nudist colony in a very temperate region without mosquitoes....

Why would you assume imbalance? You still have to live and function inside of your meatsuit. I mean, try NOT doing that and see how long you last.
