Wow Demi! This is an epic post and incredibly riveting, in the most fascinating and surprising ways! Haha
It took me over an hour to read (and watch the clips, etc.), but it was SO worth it. That said, I’m shamelessly blaming you when my client wonders where all the work is that I must have completed by tomorrow. Oh yes I am!!! Heh heh
There were so many things I wanted to quote here in my comment, but the volume of greatness was too overwhelming.
However, THIS rang true for me personally:
“I also, for better or worse, genuinely don’t care what anyone else thinks of me. People have hated me my whole life - who cares? How is that different from any other Tuesday? Haters gonna hate. So, there’s that.”
While I DO care what my husband thinks of me and (to some extent) my kids, if others want to throw shade and hate my way, it doesn’t bother me. It’s mildly disturbing when I get death threats, but that hasn’t happened in several years and would require much more space to explain here.
I loved the “Tentacles” clip and all the others.
The image of the two buildings — one built back in the day with all its beauty and ineffable glory and the quite ugly, brutalistic-ish modern structure trying to look classy — peaked my interest greatly. DS & I have been watching a lot of videos about so-called “star forts,” and the mysterious lore surrounding them and this reminds me of that.
These golden tidbits sprinkled amidst the ongoing hilarity and sarcasm of this post only added to its compelling character. I kept talking myself I needed to stop reading and come back later after I tended to some things, but…ahem…I did not.

Interestingly, I’ve had similar feelings when it comes to things simply not affecting me like they usually affect others. It’s not like a callous uncaring for me. It’s almost as if I don’t “get” the joke, except that it’s not a joke. I can’t really explain it and I’ve been this way all my life.
Way back at the beginning of the Amazon kindle fraudulent misrepresentation scheme, there was a book for sale as an eBook for Kindle that Amazon felt was inappropriate. I would have to look for it, and the topic so disgusts me that I'd rather not. But it would have been about 2012 or so. They took the book off their site. Then they took it off all the Kindle readers. People who had paid for the book were no longer able to access it. That was it for me, after that I refused to consider ever buying a Kindle or allowing it to be a gift to me. Because that is dark, evil, nasty, ugly stuff. Wrong on so many levels. I don't trust Jeff Bezos or Amazon since then.
