Notes On Journoids, Techbros, Memelords, Chewbacca, Polarization, Political Relationship Conflicts, ROFLCOPTERS, Wenchcore, Kimbo the Bimbo, and more....
I don’t always make “The Scroll” but when I do, I usually wear a boxer not a brief and remember chicks pay top dollar for it in New York. Thanks for the mention Demi! Glad to contribute as always!
I always like reading "The Scrolls". But where the Hell do they come from? So many interesting conversations I'd like to either read, more or less as they happen, or comment upon. Do these happen on people's posts or in chat or notes or what-gives? I never seem to encounter them even though many are with people whom I read and follow. Any advice from commenters, etc., on how to "follow better" or whatever one must do here on SS is most welcome.
1. Space has position as they high ground from which one gains unique information and perspective.
2. Space has resources of energy and materials that can be mined and refined without harming Earth.
3. Microgravity sex and dancing on the Moon are fun.
4. There is a horizon, it's out there not down there. Exploring beyond the horizon is human.
5. We've been there before and people are out there.
6. Carrying the Gospels to the farthest stars and to all souls in between is the Great Commission.
7. Going places not visited in thousands of years is how we push ourselves in many ways.
8. Warfare has always sought the high ground for strategic reasons.
9. There are dangers to being only in one place, including dangers from space objects like comets.
I've been working in the space industry professionally since 1986 and as an amateur since 1976. So I've done all the reading, looked at all the tech, worked on rocket systems, built companies in the industries, and I know the people involved.
My start, like many others, began with science fiction film and books. Arthur Clarke and Stanley Kubrik each had issues. But they relate the beginnings of mankind with the desire to reach into space, and there is much truth to those things.
Recent analysis shows that there was an inhabited, watery planet in orbit around our star where the main belt asteroids are now. The same cataclysm that destroyed that planet also sent a huge chunk of rock to Earth which wiped out the dinosaurs sixty-five million years ago. If you chart the orbits of celestial bodies far enough back you find a planet in orbit between Mars and Jupiter.
There have been nine other "high" civilisations on Earth which were capable of space travel. Humans like us have been on this planet about 480,000 years. We first reached Mars 320,000 years ago. There were still Neanderthal 35,000 years ago. There were still homo floresiensis (the hobbit folk or little people) 80,000 years ago. There are still vast wildernesses on Earth and there are people who are good at hiding in our world, so it isn't certain to me that all these other hominids are entirely gone. As well, there is more "here" than can be measured in the three spatial and one time dimension that scientists try to force reality to be, and quantum physicists are not the only ones who have been working for generations with twelve and more dimensions. Dimensionality, like the grains of sand in the world or the number of stars in the universe, is effectively infinite.
Movement through our universe is much more interesting if you take a bigger view. And I have about as much Celt, Gaelic, and Gaul blood in my lineage as Scots, English, and German. I know space settlement enthusiasts in Japan, in Italy, in Russia, in South America, and in many cultures, so I don't think it is especially racial.
For reasons that I go into in some of my essays on L5 News here on Substack, I believe mankind built a "space elevator" which is still remembered in stories like Jack and the Beanstalk and in legends such as the "tower of Babel." Linguists will tell you that languages divide over time and there is evidence of an "ur-language" if you go far enough back. I believe the beanstalk was grown, primarily of graphene and carbon nano-tubes from what might be described as a "seed" in the sense discussed by Neal Stephenson in his book _The Diamond Age_ and by other authors. The space elevator rose from where Sumatra is now located and parts of it remain on the ocean floor West of there. It was grown 310,000 years ago and fell 200,000 years ago. "And there was a war in heaven."
John F. Kennedy wasn't a tech bro, and had a number of personality issues. But he said something important at Rice University a long time ago. He asked, "Why go to the Moon? And you might well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas? {crowd laughter for a few minutes} We choose to go to the Moon and do the other things not because they are easy but because they are hard."
And, at some point, you also have to ask, "Why not?"
Now I've got a vision of falling into a trippy, endless fractal zoom of boobs to weird, psychedelic music, and I keep going down until I behold the Queen deep in the core of this realm; who will only appear in the form of one single, large, voluptuous boob to Men and grant them counsel, or appear to 'males' by appearig in her 'not tonight, I've got a headache' and reject them. I must counsel with the majestic and beautiful Lady Tit upon her gilded, regal throne and robes of fine lingerie so that she will task me with a quest most perilous; to retrieve the legendary Demi Scrolls after the entire Order of White Knights was vanquished; first beta'd by Lady Tit's headache, then gamma'd by the siren song of damsels in much stress, then routed singlehandedly by the Baron Woudenberg Cringe-Bane.
I already know gonna have even more bizarre, messed up nightmares than usual when I finally sleep... :D
Great convo this week with Demi, I appreciate being included with all the fine folk. Man, I sound so serious in those responses, like Spock without coffee and about to go through the Pan-Far. 😂😂
Question - is the lady in the graphic Justine Bateman?
Wow ! Phew ! That whole back and forth under “Agreeing to Disagree” was insightful and quite painful at the same time. A whole lot of nothing turned into a whole bunch of something, still trying to figure out what 😳😳🙄🙄 !
Thank you Demi, for interjecting some sanity to the subject. Your wisdom abounds !!
I'm sorry you feel that way. It's something I do weekly to highlight some of the better conversations I've seen across Notes. If you'd like me to untag you, I can do that.
I guess it just strikes me as weird to screenshot all of this stuff, but it's fine. I put it out there so I'm happy to wear it. I've no desire to "take down" your publication, just trying to understand it better as honestly it's intent escaped me (but that is probably my inate ability to miss the point of things).
Read through the comments on here and on the earlier editions (there is a button link at the top to get to the other installments) and you will start to see what it's all about.
It's my curation of a weekly community style newspaper.
It's more of a highlight reel than anything.
My including others in it is more of a hat tip to what they had to say.
It features what you said in a publication where thousands are seeing you, and if they like what you said and want to chat with you on Notes or sub to your pub, they are encouraged to do so at the bottom of the page.
I present all sides of conversations I found interesting as they occurred.
Much of it is humorous, and some of it is educational.
If you were involved in one of the conversations I pulled from, you were included.
I err on the side of including others over excluding them so that everyone here has a chance to go over it, laugh, think, research, and further discuss.

Lol!! Thanks!! :)

I have sort of a knack for knowing which posts/conversations are going to do that, so I stash the links. ;)
Luv this message on this saturday
Thank you!! 🙏🏻💜💫
Life, once studied by our bulbous brain is found to be a fictitious commodity

Why not, indeed! Let's go!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But, in all events, the title "Let's Disagree to Agree" is a good one. I shall steal it.
Ha! Thanks! Apollo's Lyre will be pleased! 🤣

Thank you for contributing! ☺️
That's Aubrey Plaza! :)
Ah, indeed. The modern day Justine Bateman.
(That was in my Dr Fraser Crane voice)
Hahahahaha! :)
Thank you for the mention!

Thank you so much, Ken! :)
hahahaaha!! That thread about Chewie not getting a medal! And you and Apollo disagreeing to agree. Hilarious! 😂
So happy and honoured to be a monkey in your circus, Demi!! ❤️
All monkeys require cymbals. For Judy. And also because it's hilarious. Love you!! <3
Works for me!! I like clanging things together.
Love you!! Have a wonderful, magical day, my beautiful friend. 😘
Ha!! You too, sister!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Demi!! 🌸
Thank you!! 🙏🏻❤️

So why, exactly, have you "shared" my notes here? I'm not following what you're trying to do. Also, this all feels a little creepy.
I'm sorry you feel that way. It's something I do weekly to highlight some of the better conversations I've seen across Notes. If you'd like me to untag you, I can do that.
