This post was inspired by the meme above which posted to Notes earlier today. Thank you, Amrita!
This is not a thought that most would consider due to the ways we are trained to think about time and productivity - but your “to-do list” is really a manifestation tool.
The act of focusing with intention and writing down what you want to accomplish can set gears in motion that draw in to you whatever is on your list - even the stretch goals that you might think are a long shot.
Using the terms within the meme as an example, if you were to consolidate the dead-in-the-water “to-do list from last week” with the “new to-do list” and the “to-do list from yesterday,” you could do more to keep the energy of your manifestations circulating and alive.
If you organize your items by dividing them up on the same list according to long, medium, or short term, and then over again by priority, you are not only keeping your mind trained on creating an order of operations for achieving your goals, but you are also setting an intention with the universe that will begin to draw in to you the people and resources necessary to achive the starting steps for the forgotten items without your having had to take direct action on them at all.
You may or may not get to the items on your list in one day - and that’s ok. Taking steps toward doing so will show the universe that you have focus, attention, and intention behind these items and the universe will mirror that energy back to you by synchronizing what you experience with the intentions you have set. This will prove to you that it’s working.
If you make your to-do list into a living, breathing document, you can cycle out what you’ve already accomplished, and keep adding new items to the document as you go. When the page gets so full that you can’t read it, copy down the leftover items to a new page, cull the finished items or the items that are no longer of any importance, and keep going.
I suggest hand writing the list because the imprint of hand writing something is much stronger than the imprint of typing it. Then, keep the list nearby so that you always have the opportunity to glance at it or write on it. Give it real estate on your desk and carry it around with you on a daily basis. This will keep your focus and intention set to charging up this list.
Whatever falls out of memory or attention will find its way to you by showing up in your reality because you’ve set an intention and forgotten about it. This is the same as releasing it to the universe.
The ways in which these other items are going to come about will show themselves to you through synchronicity and serendipity. After that, it is your job to remain on the lookout for signs creating a continuous path for you from the start of your manifestation to the achivement of your goal.
You will notice that people and resources will start to come in to help you with these items simply because you have set and released the intention, even if you’ve never mentioned out loud that you needed anything at all.
I found a to do list in my journal from 2021 the other day. Almost all things have come true. They seemed impossible at the time but circumstances rearranged themselves.
There is a very old saying among my people: smofs make lists. If you have ever been involved in the operations behind the curtain of a science fiction convention, you should be aware that a smof is a "secret master of fandom." It is the smofs who engage with the madness of even thinking about having a convention (which, by tradition, is known as a con) and inviting film stars, authors, dealers, costumers, fanfic writers, and space entrepreneurs to attend, be paid, sign autographs, read readings, exhibit wares, buy, sell, dance, sing, paint the vision of the future on the walls metaphorically and in some cases literally ("Stop spraypainting the halls Jerry! The hotel has a contract with us! Only union painters ffs!") and eat food in the green room. From opening ceremony to dead dog party a con lives and breathes, is fun or fails, because smofs make it happen. And smofs do so by making lists, crossing off items, and making new lists until it is time to crash in the back of the film room. Wake up and make another list. Put coffee on that list.
In debate we were trained to take notes of the arguments from other people. I can take notes by keyboard or by hand even when the speaker goes more than 120 words a minute. Very few people do.
What you say about handwriting is true. I remember what I write out by hand much better than what I type. It's no contest with voice notes. Something about the eyes, the hand, and the brain all working in concert to put a set of ideas on paper is completely focusing. Helps.
Thank you for this topic and thank you to the memester for the powerful inspiring meme. Blessings all around.
