The problems with universal basic income are many and deserve to be ignored so the gooferment can do all the things and collapse. UBI only hastens the collapse. But people don't seem to want to look at monetary inflation and its many difficulties for the poor and middle class and its many opportunities for the rich and prosperous. Richard Cantillon goes centuries with a limited audience, but his effect prevails.
I like the idea that the world would be a better place if people were more like a fictional tunnel chicken and a fictional donkey depicted in prompt-derived artwork. This fulfils for a me a sense that in the future it will be possible to make great and beautiful works of art so fast that the Getty heiress won't be able to hire enough goofs to throw soup and paint and oil on all of them. Perhaps she will go bankrupt before she and her demon worshipping friends have destroyed everything in the name of a false sanctimony over a climate that was always changing anyway. More people still die every year from freezing cold than from too much heat, and the temperature trend is downward. But the grift is stronger with the "carbon capture" horse manure.
There is something about a Digital Algonquin that I don't understand. What is it?
On the other hand, this all seems more like a Digital Chautauqua. But perhaps that is a different kettle of fish? Ka chow!
It's the digital version of this, but kind and friendly... not so snobtastic fauxtelligentsia, and lacking the requisite blue-checkitis that tends to follow, because who the hell in their right mind would want to be so insufferable. But, you get the point, I'm sure....
How extraordinary. So many "Roaring Twenties" luminaries that I am awed, even now in the "Twisted Twenty-twenties." Goodness. I had no idea that there was so much enthusiasm in the Algonquin hotel for joi de vivre.
The Diddy story reminds me of the Kiddie Porn ring that was discovered in Dallas in the 70s, days after Houston child murderer Dean Corllβwho had connections to this ring, as did John Wayne Gacy in Chicagoβwas killed. The ring had a card filing system that contained the names of anywhere from 30,000-100,000 names of "prominent public figures and federal employees" on them who all, as "sponsors" paid for the services of young men and boysβ"fellows". The cards were turned over to the State Department in 1977 who then...destroyed them. It was determined that the cards had no relevance to any fraud case regarding anyone's passport...

I was just called a Traitor by a hater... Appollo's Lyre is right. The internet is a trap, itβs a catch 22, we stayed glued to it hoping our heart felt words will make a difference, but the truth is we share our words hoping that someone somewhere will hear them and take the action we canβt take because we are stuck in the World Wide Web. The only way we save ourselves from whatβs coming is in person, we get up climb out of the web stand side by side and take direct physical action. Maybe at that point our words will be enough when our oppressors hear them all at once all together, but if not will be ready for action. Ya We poor our hearts out hoping someone somewhere will put the action behind our words. Thatβs what the internet is good for!!! Iβm slowly starting to see it in a much different light, itβs holding us back, itβs not helping us!!!
If youβre mentioned but you donβt see a quote from you, you shared or restacked one of the posts in here and I erred on the side of including you! Thanks for being here!! ππ»ππ«
Thanks for the mention Demi and always happy to contribute something interesting for the scroll.

This is, unfortunately, the control mechanism that underpins our entire "civilization." Yes, it's THAT bad.
Too true! Someone must surely see that such solutions are not sustainable. Someone in gov't I mean, of course...
Most of them cannot rise to those positions without being beholden to someone, somewhere who is beholden to that system.
Sounds like the problem is the system then...

You know I was going to make some snarky comment on the big mike thing; and then I read Bobby's Journal , "Guardians of Balance".
It's breathtaking.
Fire is a tricky thing; yes, there is harmony there, but inside the cave in tends to chaos or entropy.
So what I'm saying is that what is facinating is that light, inner light, can be seen in the cave to lead out, at the same time as being in the cave.
And that's the listening, the discrimination in seeing what grows brighter.
And Bobby speaks of the proper use of fire, a reentering the cave in a balanced harmony
