My husband is Native American and both of us have asked members of different tribes at Pow Wows about the name Hayah. Most of the answers we’ve both received has been - they just don’t know. But the chant is reserved for the greatest spirit. One beautiful lady from the Lakota tribe in North Dakota told me it generates originally from the Hopis, who say they began their journey on Earth by the aunt People guiding them through subterranean tunnels. The Hopis are the only tribes who have never made a deal with the United States government. A true sovereign tribe.
