Business is full of bunk and fakery. In fact that's what most advertising is all about. I've always thought it was short sighted to essentially lie to clients when you don't have all the answers, rather than being transparent and honest - the wiser choice in terms of retention. Customers are smarter than ever these days and can easily detect nonsense and deception. Yet the charades persist. It's connected to the older dysfunctional paradigm of over promising and under delivering.
