Illinois Mom Stripped by Judge of Custody For Refusing Clotshot, Judge Suddenly Reverses Order
In sudden change of heart, Judge reverses ruling allowing divorced mom Firlit to see her child again
Cook County Judge James Shapiro revoked all of Rebecca Firlit’s parenting time with her son until she would prove that she has had the shot.
Attorney for Firlit, Annette Fernholz, believed that Judge James Shapiro overstepped his bounds.
Fox News reported that Fernholz provided them with a statement saying, "The trial court clearly exceeded its authority in sua sponte suspending the mother's parenting time when the issue before the court was child support. The father did not bring this issue before the court. The mother did not know her parenting time was being discussed when she went to Zoom court on August [10]. The judge deprived her of notice and a full hearing on the issue."
Jeffrey Leving, attorney for Firlit’s ex-husband, told Fox News that he supported the Shapiro’s ruling and believed that Shapiro's ruling could play out in other custody cases.
Fox said Judge Shapiro was refusing comment due to the “ongoing nature of the case.”
Chicago Sun-Times now reports that Shapiro on Monday revoked his order keeping Firlit from seeing her 11-year-old son. His one-paragraph order in Firlit’s case provides no reason for the revocation of the prior order. It says, “This court hereby VACATES paragraph 3 of its August 11, 2021 order based on the absence of a pleading or hearing on serious endangerment” pursuant to Illinois law.
Firlit told the Chicago Sun-Times, “I’ve had adverse reactions to vaccines in the past and was advised not to get vaccinated by my doctor. It poses a risk.”
Firlit said, “I’m extremely happy, I’m going to see my son right now.” However, she adds, “I know that they are going to say that I’m an endangerment to my son. This isn’t over for me.”
Update: A close friend of Firlit has told us that Duiven has refiled alleging endangerment. We will keep you posted as this unfolds.
